Relocated abroad?
The European Elections are the most important that the wider anti-fascist movement has ever faced. I am proud that the Board of Deputies of British Jews has launched a campaign to make sure that the Jewish community votes and campaigns against the politics of hate promoted by the BNP.
But it is because of this campaign that I sit here writing today. The nature of these elections means that every single vote for a mainstream political party counts and could limit the success of the BNP. This means that the ex-pat vote is also extremely important.
If you or any of your social circle is a British citizen who lives abroad but was permanently resident in the UK at some point during the last 15 years they can vote in these elections. Just register with you old local authority before May 19th. Details can be found at www.aboutmyvote.co.uk.
So I urge you to do your bit and help stop the politics of hate in the UK. Register to vote, use your vote and make sure all your friends and family in the UK do too.
Henry Grunwald QC, President of the Board of Deputies of British Jews
